We teach students to use their voices to make change for their community

At the Environmental Youth Council, our mission is to empower the youth of Houston to use their voices as catalysts for change in their communities. We believe in equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to address environmental justice issues, fight climate change, and advocate for a healthier, more sustainable future.

We provide science-based curricula and leadership training, after school meetings, a video competition, local field trips, community events, guest speakers, hands-on gamified toolkits, and an annual capstone trip through our program. Each of these interactive offerings was was designed to teach students the facts about air quality, environmental health, and climate while also helping them develop the leadership and problem solving skills needed to recognize and address environmental justice issues in their communities.

Currently active in two Houston high schools, our program is on a mission to expand its reach to even more high schools in the near future. We are committed to fostering a new generation of environmental justice advocates, change-makers, storytellers, creatives, and champions of a healthier, more sustainable future.
